Backflow testing FAQs

Questions about backflow testing

Questions Pomeroy, WA property owners ask about backflow testing and backflow prevention.

Talk to a person
What happens if I miss the backflow test deadline?
Utilities usually send a second notice, and after that some add a fee or schedule a service shutoff. Calling (833) 990-5874 before the deadline is the simplest way to avoid it.
What is the difference between an RPZ and a double check valve?
Both have two independent check valves. An RPZ adds a relief valve between the checks that discharges water to atmosphere if the checks leak, which is why it is required on high-hazard connections.
How long does a backflow test take?
A residential PVB or double check test usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Large commercial and fire line assemblies take longer.
How much does backflow testing cost in Pomeroy, WA?
Pricing depends on device type, size and the local market. Call (833) 990-5874 for current pricing on backflow testing in Pomeroy, WA.
Is fire sprinkler backflow testing different?
Yes. Along with the standard check valve test, NFPA 25 calls for an annual forward flow test on fire line backflow assemblies. Results often go to both the water utility and the fire authority.
